Checking Clinic - Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Learn the basic concepts of body checking before the season starts with this 2+ hour clinic. The clinic will be taught by Kevin Muller (Komets Varsity Coach, Devo Coach, and Hockey Director). Players will get a thorough overview of the proper techniques for giving and receiving body checks, worst-case scenarios (and how to react to them), the do’s and don’ts of checking, drills to practice proper technique and strength, and much more.

Unlike many other checking clinics, we will be maximizing the learning time by utilizing off-ice instructional materials from USA Hockey as well as on and off-ice drills in full equipment to reinforce proper technique and safety.

Checking Clinic Schedule – Saturday, July 17th, 2010 - $25 per skater

• 9:30-9:45am - Check-in
• 9:45-10:10am - USA Hockey "Heads Up Hockey" DVD Review + Q&A
• 10:10-10:20am - Change into full gear (except skates)
• 10:20-10:55am - Off Ice Checking Drills
• 10:55-11:00am - Put Skates On
• 11:00-12:30pm - On-Ice Checking Instruction
