Help us unite and 'Save the Ice' at our Arena!

The Kenosha Ice Arena was built in 1972, with a mission of providing the Kenosha area hockey community an indoor facility to grow the popularity of Ice Sports.  Prior to the building of the Kenosha Ice Arena, the Kenosha Komets (previously known as the Kenosha Blues) played at Lakefront Stadium in downtown Kenosha.  The community banded together and built the facility in only 14 weeks! Over the past 45 plus years, thousands of hockey players and figure skaters learned to skate, play and better themselves on our ice.  While the infrastructure has been very kind to us, it's starting to show its age.

In the image above you can see how our ice is structured.  The pipes that provide both the cooling and the heating are beginning to rust and leak.   This is causing current spots around the ice to move in ways it was never designed to move. Our excellent rink staff has helped provide patchwork repairs for years.  It's time we take serious action and focus on replacing this system PRIOR to a catastrophic failure that puts our skaters out of commission.

The funds needed to replace the ice system correctly and ensure our community has a place to skate for the next 45 years will be expensive. Current quotes are in the seven figures, and while our organization is doing well we will still need a lot of help to achieve this goal.  The Kenosha Blue Line Club has formed a Capital Fundraising Project Committee to create a plan to engage our members, alumni, and community.

Q: Is your rink closing?

A: NO!  We are in need of repairs, but we plan on operating until we have the funds to replace the ice surface or until we run out of band-aids to put on the system. We have the best arena staff in the business and maintenance partnership with Johnson Controls to help keep us up as long as possible.
