Kenosha Adult Hockey Club (KAHC) - Official Rules & Regulations

BELOW IS A LIST OF THE CLUB RULES AND REGULATIONS. THESE RULES ARE IN ADDITION TO AND SUPERSEDE USA HOCKEY RULES AND WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

It is the responsibility of all players to know all CLUB & USA Hockey rules and to abide by these rules.

1) General Overview
  The Kenosha Adult Hockey Club organizes a no-check, USA Hockey-sanctioned league with three divisions. The league is designed so all players can have fun, while offering participation to all players.
2) No-Check Rules
  All games will be non-checking. As incidental contact cannot always be avoided, the referee’s decision is final. At the discretion of the referee, a player may be assessed a MINOR penalty for contact, or a MAJOR penalty for blatant abuse of the non-contact rule.
  NOTE – Required Equipment: The Kenosha Ice Arena and the KAHC require the use of a minimum of a half-shield for all skaters at all levels of play.
3) Division of Teams
  KAHC is divided into 3 divisions. Competitive Gold (A), Silver (B) and Recreational Bronze ( C )
  Placement in the various divisions will be at the discretion of the KAHC Competition Committee, with the goal of improving team parity and league competition.
  “Gold” Division (A)–Teams comprised of Advanced level players 18 years and older that may have played at the College, Junior, Non-Varsity College, Midget AAA or AA, Prep School or Varsity.
   “Silver” Division (B)–Teams comprised of Intermediate level players 18 years and older. These players may have played at the Junior C, Competitive Midget, or Varsity and J.V. High School levels.
   “Bronze” Division (C)–Teams comprised primarily of less experienced recreational level players 18 years and older. These players may have played some organized youth hockey up to the Bantam level.
  No Gold level players are permitted at the Bronze level.
   
4) League Fees
  Team fees will be posted prior to the start of each season.
  Team fees must be paid IN FULL by the fourth (4) game of the season.
  No refunds will be given to players injured, suspended or expelled for any reason during the season.
  Non-Payment of Fees
  Teams not paid by the start of the fourth game into any given season will be placed on supervision or suspension until payment is received in full.
  Any team with delinquent fees and a full roster will be placed on suspension until fees are paid in full.
  Missed games due to a non-payment suspension will be a forfeit (1-0 loss) and will not be rescheduled.
5) League Schedule
  The KAHC plays year round – a Winter League, typically Late Sept thru April, and a Summer League, typically May thru August.
6) Playoffs
  The KAHC will determine prior to the start of each season if there will be playoffs. 
  In the event of playoffs, photo ID is required at the time of sign-in. If you do not have a photo ID, you will not be allowed to play.
7) GAME FORMAT
   Games will be held in a 90-minute time slot
  Blue line and no-touch icing will be used in all games.
  Games will consist of 3, 13 minute periods with stop clock, and ice resurfacing after every 2 periods.
  Games may not last more than 90 minutes. If officials feel the game may go past the 90-minutes, running time may be used.
8) Warm-ups
  The warm-up period will consist of a running clock for 5 minutes.
9) Overtime – All Divisions
   If a game is tied at the end of regulation, each team will be awarded one point. A 3 player shootout will ensue after regulation. There is no sudden death shootouts during the regular season. If a player in the B or C league have reached their 3 goal limit, they will NOT be allowed to participate in the shootout. 
10) Playoffs Overtime – All Divisions
  There will be a 5-minute, stop clock, 4-on-4 overtime.
  Teams shall play with 4 skaters and a goalie.
  If teams are tied after the 1st 5 minute overtime, they will continue to another 5 minute overtime of 3 on 3 play.
  After the 1st Overtime (4 on 4) teams shall play with 3 skaters and a goalie.
  If either team still has not yet scored after the 2nd overtime, a 3 skater shootout will ensue.
11) Goal Scoring Limit
   All players in the “Bronze” Recreational Division are limited to a maximum of three goals per game, including a shootout.
 

All players in the “B" Division are limited to a maximum of three goals per game, including a shootout.

 Players who have 3 goals during regulation play are not permitted to participate in a shootout, should regulation end in a tie score.

12) Mercy Rule
   If a team is ahead by seven (7) goals or more at the beginning of the third period, a running clock will be used at the losing teams discretion.
  Stop clock will return if the losing team closes the lead to less than five (5) goals.
13) “Gentleman’s Rule”
 

If a team has less than 7 rostered players, they may be allowed to draft up to 2 non-rostered skaters ONLY if the captain of the opposing team agrees. If players from the short-handed team show late, stand-ins must leave at that time.

Any Non-rostered players will not be allowed to score goals. 
14) TEAMS AND PLAYERS
 

 

  Each team must select a team captain.
  A team captain is required for bench purposes during game play
  The team captain is responsible for the team’s conduct on the bench during the game.
15) Uniforms
  Jerseys must include large, contrasting, permanent numbers on the back of the jersey.
  Matching jerseys are mandatory for all skaters, with jerseys of the same color and design.
  All jerseys on any one team must have the same or similar shoulder color.
   Teams wishing to change team colors must present the change to the KAHC Board for approval.
   Jerseys with taped-on numbers or without numbers (blank) are NOT ACCEPTABLE.
 

There are to be no jerseys that have the same number for two different players on the same team.

If players are in non-matching jerseys, they will not be allowed to score goals.

16) Rosters
  Teams may roster up to 20 total players – there are no additional “subs”.
  Goaltenders may be freely substituted from team to team only in the event the team’s regular goalie cannot play in a game. Goaltenders should be from same division or one tier up or down.
  Rosters will be frozen following the fourth game into any given season.
17) Penalties
 

Penalties will be enforced per the USA Hockey Official Rules of Ice Hockey.

*Any Player accumulating 8 minutes of penalties in one game will receive a TGO for that game*

*If a player is caught on the bench with a beer by the refs or the scorekeepers (They will be watching) that player will be removed from the game and will be given an additional 1 game suspension.
*The team that player is playing for will automatically forfeit that game and the opposing team will be given a 1-0 win.
  Fighting
  The KAHC has a STRICT progressive policy towards fighting, above and beyond USA Hockey.
  First fighting incident will result in a 2-game suspension from the date of the infraction.
  Second fighting incident will result in expulsion for the remainder of the season.
   If a player is on more than one team roster, suspensions include ALL team play until the suspension is satisfied with the team it happened.
  Players fighting off the ice will draw a 1-year suspension from the league.
18) This Game Only (TGO) Penalty
  The purpose of the TGO penalty is to create a safe and entertaining environment for all players, referees and spectators. Referees are encouraged to follow standard procedures for penalizing players. However, at their discretion, referees may apply a TGO penalty at any time to remove any player they feel needs to be removed from the game for poor conduct, including excessive verbal or physical play.
  The TGO penalty is for the remainder of that game only, and does not carry immediate additional game suspension.
  Individual Cumulative Penalties Individual players will receive a TGO ejection
 

In all 3 Divisions 4 minor penalties = TGO

Any player that accumulates 2 TGO's will receive a 1 game suspension.

Any player that accumulates a 3rd TGO will receive a 2 game suspension.

Any player that accumulates a 4th TGO will be suspended for the remainder of the season.

19) Suspensions
 

Players that are suspended are suspended from all KAHC league

play.

  Failure to serve a suspension will result in a lifetime ban from league play.
  Suspensions will be noted on Score Sheets, and may also be posted on the website and on the Bulletin Board at the rink.
20) Match Penalties
  Match penalties follow USA Hockey Official Rules of Ice Hockey, and will result in a 30-day suspension.
  PLEASE REMEMBER!!
  THIS IS A NO-CHECK HOCKEY CLUB WITH THE MAIN GOAL OF HAVING FUN.
  PLEASE LIMIT THE UNNECESSARY COMMENTS, GESTURES, & PHYSICAL PLAY.
  The KAHC reserves the right to deny/expel any person(s) or players(s) that has shown misconduct/actions on or off the ice for any reason unfit by the league. Any player that has been expelled from any other league in the past may not be allowed to play in the KAHC unless reviewed and approved by the League Board.
