Skills Sessions

Skill Sessions Overview [Wed Sep 23, 2009]

We're excited to introduce "Skill Sessions" for the 2009-10 hockey season. Our hope is that these sessions will continue to improve the overall skill level throughout the club.

Format: These sessions will have the ice divided into 3 different "stations".

Station 1: Power Skating
Station 2: Skill Training (skating, stickhandling, shooting, passing)
Station 3: Small Area Game

Station 1 will be run by an independent power skating instructor. Stations 2 and 3 will be run by the coaches of the age levels skating.

Attendance Expectations - Players and goalies are expected to treat these sessions the same as a regular practice and attend them on a regular basis.

Behavior Expectations Good behavior is expected at all sessions. Players/Goalies who are asked to leave the ice for poor/disruptive behavior during these sessions will be required to appear before the Disciplinary Committee - which meets each month the Thursday before the board meeting. Players/Goalies removed from the ice a second time will not be allowed to return to any more sessions and must meet again in front of the Disciplinary Committee to discuss further punishment.

Equipment: Full equipment is required as in any other regular practice.

Goalies: All goalies should plan on attending these sessions.

Devos: Devos do not participate in skills nights.
