Summer Skills Program - 2010

Welcome to the fourth year of the Komets Summer Skills program. Summer Skills is designed to teach and reinforce core hockey skills throughout the summer. It is also set up to allow players to enter fall tryouts in shape and ready to go by allowing players to train through the months of July and August. The program has been a great success over the past three seasons and is expected to grow again this year. Please see below for groupings, curriculum, and schedule information. All sessions will be held at Kenosha Ice (7727 60th Ave).

Curriculum

 

The Summer Skills program has a specific skills focus for each of the seven weeks. Below is a quick overview of each of the sessions:

 

Week 1: Skating / Edgework

Week 2: Stickhandling / Puck Control

Week 3: Passing / Receiving (PEEWEE GROUP: CHECKING CLINIC)

Week 4: Shooting / Driving to the Net

Week 5: Backwards Skating

Week 6: Quick Starts / Agility / Tight Turns

Week 7: Review

Groups

 

Participants will be grouped based on their playing level for the 2010-2011 regular season. Note - second year Mites who played on the travel team last year are able to participate with the Squirt group. Off-ice Dryland training will be run before each practice night (not before scrimmage night ice times). Players should arrive at the facility 5-10 minutes before the beginning of the off-ice session in shorts, T-shirt and gym shoes. Scrimmage nights will be supervised "open ice" type sessions to help stay on the ice and practice the skills they are learning during the practice sessions. • Non-Komet Goalies* - $150

*No goalie instruction provided.  We reserve the right to cap goalie registrations at each level.

Important Notes
All non-Komet skaters/goalies MUST provide proof of USA Hockey Registration for the 2009-2010 or 2010-11 season before they are admitted on the ice. A copy of the registration confirmation is required to participate. Non-Komet Skaters must complete the following forms in order to participate. These forms can be found in the 2009-2010 registration packet (pages 3 - 8). Download forms. medical information consent to treat waiver of liability letter of release and authorization Payment must be received before skater is allowed on the ice. No exceptions! Payments can be brought to the first night of Summer Skills. Players must check-in prior to taking the ice
