2020-21 Hockey is Around the Corner!

Greetings Komets families!  On behalf of the Board of Directors, allow me to be the first person to welcome you to the 2020-2021 hockey season!  We have been working together with our hockey director to make this season the best one yet.  I am very excited to share some of the changes we have made for the upcoming season beginning with registration.  Currently we are planning on a having our typical season format.  We will be competing for WAHA state championships along with NIHL league championships.  All communications indicate our seasons should begin on schedule.  We are planning on having two Midget teams, two Bantam teams, up to three Pee Wee teams, and up to four Squirt teams.

First and foremost, due to financial hardships brought on by the Covid-19 crisis, we have decided to lower our fees at all levels.  Many of our families have been hard hit financially by the crisis, and we want to be sure to help get your kids back on the ice.

Secondly, we have decided to replace football mania with a traditional cash raffle.  In the past, families have been required to sell $400 worth of mania tickets, or buyout for $280.  This year, each family will be required to sell at least 25 tickets at $10 each.  Additionally, money will be due when you turn in your tickets, not at registration like in the past.

We also are eliminating the traditional volunteer hour requirement.  We will not be asking our families to donate and track 20 hours of volunteer time.  We will still have plenty of opportunities to get involved and will need volunteers for different events, but we want to lessen the burden on our families.

These efforts are designed to lower every Komet family’s financial obligation for hockey.  We are very excited about the programming  we have planned for this year.  Registration is open and can be found at www.kenoshakomets.com.  Fees will increase on August 1!  Be sure to register your skater for an exciting year as soon as possible!

See you at the rink!
