New Sticker Honors the Memory of Three Komet Dads

The Kenosha Komets are unveiling a new helmet sticker this week honoring the memories of three Komet dad's. Each of these men battled a different type of cancer.  The decal is a cancer ribbon containing the initials of Frank Markus, Gus Phillips, and Dave Schmitz.  The ribbon is made up of the colors that represent the different cancers they had.  It is wrapped around a Komets puck and has wings and hockey sticks in the background.

I'm constantly hearing references to our "hockey family".  Frank, Gus, and Dave all worked tirelessly to contribute to their hockey family during their lives.  Whether they were a lifelong Komet or a constant volunteer around the rink, each contributed tremendously to their hockey home.  The Komets are a volunteer organization.  We have existed for more than fifty years.  I can say without a doubt that without people like Frank, Gus, and Dave, we wouldn't be here.  All three left the world better than they found it, and for that, their hockey family will be forever grateful.
