The Komet's IGNITION program is the first stop for players who are interested in hockey but have no prior skating experience. The program focuses on the fundamental skating skills required for hockey players. The goal of the IGNITION program is to remove skaters from using skating aids and prepare skaters for our DEVO program where they will focus on basic hockey skills including: skating, shooting, passing, etc.
Players who successfully graduate from the IGNITION program will be able to join the DEVO program.
Teaching Curriculum:
• Get up on ice – starting on all fours learning a basic way to get back to your feet
• Proper hockey stance
• March forward across ice – first steps to skating
• Forward two – foot glide, the length of the skater’s height
• Dip or Squat – stationary as well as moving
• T – Push – one skate behind the other, using the inside edge of the skate to propel skater forward

Need Equipment?
We've made some changes to our loaner equipment program this year. A $50 deposit check, post-dated April 1st, 2017, is now required to borrow Komets loaner equipment.
The Komets loaner equipment program operates based on an honor system and survives because of generous equipment and monetary donations from our members and various others in the community. Players in need of equipment can be sized up for equipment prior to the first day of each session. The loaner equipment is complimentary for the player's first year, as long as the player remains in the Komets Development program.
For complete information about our loaner equipment program see our Komets Development Loaner Equipment Policy and our Komets Development Loaner Equipment Agreement (Below).
We do not currently provide the following loaner equipment in our equipment bags:
Please note, equipment is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
"Spring 2017" Equipment Outfitting will be:
Sunday, 2/26/2017 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Anyone in need of equipment who registers after Sunday, 2/26/2017 will need to make arrangements with the program director. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee later registrants will be outfitted before the next scheduled practice.
Membership Requirements: A USA Hockey (USAH) Membership Confirmation number is required for all hockey programs. You'll be able to register your skater with USAH from within the Komet's registration session.
More information about the USA Hockey Membership and Registration can be found at http://www.usahockey.com/membership
