Aug 22 Checking Clinic
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 - 12:00pm

Learn the basic concepts of body checking before the season starts with this 2.5 hour clinic. The clinic will be taught by Jason Myers (Komets JV Head Coach, Devo Coach) and Kevin Muller (Komets Varsity Coach, Devo Coach, and Hockey Director). Players will get a thorough overview of the proper techniques for giving and receiving body checks, worst-case scenarios (and how to react to them), the do's and don'ts of checking, drills to practice proper technique and strength, and much more.

Unlike many other checking clinics, we will be maximizing the learning time by utilizing off-ice instructional materials from USA Hockey as well as on and off-ice drills in full equipment to reinforce proper technique and safety. Click Here to Register

Checking Clinic Schedule - Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
  • 11:45-12:00pm - Check-in
  • 12:00-12:30pm - USA Hockey "Heads Up Hockey" DVD Review + Q&A;
  • 12:30-12:50pm - Change into full gear (except skates)
  • 12:50-1:15pm - Off Ice Checking Drills
  • 1:15-1:20pm - Put Skates On
  • 1:20-2:30pm - On-Ice Checking Instruction

Pat McCurdy Fundraiser Event - August 14th, 2009 - 7:00pm

This new event will be held at the UAW Hall (3615 Washington Road; Kenosha, WI 53144). Pat McCurdy is a singer/songwriter/comedian who performs with an unusual off-beat sense of humor. This event is intended for an adult audience. Tickets are $12 each. The majority of proceeds for this event will go directly to the Komets.

All tickets purchased will be held at Will Call and can be claimed the day of the event at the door. Remember to keep your tickets as each stub will be valid for a buy one get one free drink at Coins Sports bar after!
